In 2017, St. Elias the Prophet Church purchased the Grandview Avenue United Methodist Church. Originally built in 1891, the church required modifications for conversions to a Greek Orthodox church.
As project managers and contractors, Gronen oversaw the addition of a new kitchen in the lower level, HVAC system, fire alarms, and emergency lighting and exits. Additionally, Gronen led exterior repairs to its masonry, parapet walls, and roof. In the sanctuary, the altar was renovated, plaster repaired, ceiling panels replaced, and the Iconostasis wall was reinstalled, transforming this building to serve its new purpose.
"The Gronen staff have brought us through the transformation to date in a way that we have fully understood the process at every point. Every question has been answered to our understanding and satisfaction. In Dubuque, the Gronen company is the expert team for historical renovations. We have been very pleased with every phase of our relationship with them and look forward to our next challenge..."
